I am overclocking a Q6600 Processor on Abit IP35 mobo.

From what I have been reading this should be easy.

I am overclocked to 3.0ghz (from 2.4 stock) but am getting up to 70 degrees temps on stress tests.

From what I read I could have been hoping for more than this.

Any Ideas?

What cooler are you using, your temps can go up a few deg more - I would go with 80c tops.

What software are you using to check temps.

as RJC said, my Q6600 shuts down at 80.C so you have a little leeway.
also dont forget, that stress testing is a lot hotter than day to day gaming.
but then you need to stress test, to make sure its stable ;)
if you got a better cooler, then you should get higher.

also load up cpu-z and see what vcore you have.
as more vcore = more heat, my Q6600 (B3) needs 1.44v to get to 3.4ghz.
but i have a noctua nh-d14
and what stress tester you using?

Thanks for your reply.

I am using prime95 to stress test.

The Only core voltage i can see in cpuz is on main page and says 1.208v?

I'm pretty sure I set that to 1.325v though.

Cheers
