Im just about to reinstall windows on my PC which has been out of action for a while due to a buggered hardrive, i remember a problem i had with it though, I would overclock my e6400 to about 2.8/3ghz, but when i shut the pc down and turned on again it would be back to stock, this kept happening too and i think the ram settings did aswell.

Motherboard is a gigabyte ds3p p35 board

(sorry if this should be suited for the overclocking section)

Before you install any OS or anything I would suggest updating your BIOS most of the time doing so will fix the issue that you are describing. If you do decide to do so, then the qflash option is the best way to go. You can access that via your bios screen.

Try a new battery in the motherboard.

If the battery has gone the BIOS won't be able to retain any stored settings and will revert back to stock every time you switch off the power.

how would i go about this? what sort of battery is it?

thanks

Battery is located between the blue and orange PCIE slots.

Note the orientation of the battery before removing it.

Press on the small silver tab and the old battery should pop out.

Pop the new one in and you should be good to go.
