Overclock made my GPU worse ?!

So I overclocked my GTX460 from its manufacture overclock of 725/1450/1800 up to 800/1600/1800 (left memory clock) and ran 3DMark06 before and after.

Before it got 13797 3DMarks, and after only recieved about 13400.

I dont get why i've got a decrease in performance.


Also, I ran it at 800/1600/1800 on Furmark to test temps and stability and all was good, then when I applied 810/1620/1800 I got a BSOD.
Now I dont know whether this is because of the overclock but it scared the **** outta me :S


Any help on the problem would be appreciated

Yeah it was under exact same settings.
(I had the free 3DMark06, meaning I wasnt able to change any settings)

Why not try clocking back to normal to try and eliminate anomalies?

Well I applied the settings in my sig last night and ran Heaven (on same settings) and got about 4fps increase in average and a decent +8 on minimum fps.

So maybe it was just a dodgy run or something?

There is always some degree of entropy with benchmarks, try running 10 times and average your results after excluding any extreme results.
