Hi peeps,

I need more CPU speed, any tips for 'clocking my Fx57 ?
spec in sig, currently running at 2.8Ghz (200x14), ive tried upping the multiplyer to 14.5 and 15 but windows and games are not stable.
memory is PC3200 cas 2 but I've not overclocked it.
CPU temp is around 50 degrees even at 2.9Ghz.
I heard these chips can reach 3Ghz, but mine is not stable at 2.9
any suggestions?
thanks

You probably just need a little more voltage to stabilise the chip

Up the multiplier to 15x (to give 3GHz) and the voltage to 1.4V (from 1.35V). Stress test it with Prime 95, OCCT and Super PI (the first two are far more vigorous)

If they fail, bump up the core voltage a little more

Watch your temps and don't go over about 1.55V

50 degrees does seem high with the Artic Freezer 64 - perhaps try reseating it

thanks for the reply.
It seems to be stable at 1.9Ghz with 1.475V @ around 50degrees C.
3Ghz (200*15) is not stable at 1.525V but with that I am getting 55degrees C or slightly higher.

im pretty sure it was hitting 60C at 1.525V
what is the max temp i should let it reach ?

cheers

Hi

I would say that 60 degrees is too high

Those temps do seem a lot higher than expected, especially with the Artic Freezer 64. I'd try reseating it with new heatsink compound just to make sure that you've got a decent contact between the IHS and the HSF - this can make a large difference to your temps
