Hi,

Can anyone Overclock my PC in the Nottingham/Derby area? I can travel, further if required. I don't really feel confident doing it myself. Of course I will pay a fee. :D Also interested in getting BIOs updated?

Spec -

Intel I7 930 - Watercooled
6GB Corsair Dominator DDR3 - Will be 12GB before clocked. - Thinking of a cooler but not sure its worth it?
Nvidia GTX 670 different edition but can't remember at top of my head, will find out before hand.
Asus P6X58D-E Board

Not sure if worth it? Seen decent figure on my CPU on google.

Thanks,

Liam.

It's certainly worth it!

Have a search for your board. Any thread/discussion/settings regarding the 920, 930, 950 etc should all be very similar regarding safe volts etc.

Are you adding an extra 3x sticks of RAM (total of 6), or changing to 3x 4GB sticks? I only ask as the more sticks you add, the more stress you put onto the CPU.

I would start with 191x21. This will give you 4GHZ. This is what I've found most stable at the moment on my 950. I'm running around 1.3V from memory. Just keep an eye on temps.

I would offer you a hand, but too far away.

Update your BIOS before you OC. The upgrade process will overwrite your OC.

Liam.

It's not that simple mate. Overclocking takes time, especially on the CPU because it needs to be tested for prolonged periods of time. And while one overclock may pass on one test, it may fail on another.

Your best option is just to research overclocking, ask what people have achieved with similar hardware and maybe use that as a starting point.

You need an aftermarket cooler first, stock Intel coolers youll be lucky to hit 3,3.2ghz (EDIT nvm you have watercooled cooler haha)

Used to have thatboard and CPU,its not hard to oc if you need help

If you can get yourself and the PC (just the PC, not the screen/keyboard/mouse) to me in Loughborough I can show you the basic methodology and get you started. Overclocking takes a lot of time and patience to find a stable clock but a lot of it is a waiting game.

You will definitely need a half reasonable aftermarket cooler especially for a 1366 cpu - there are many for sale that fit 1366 and the more modern sockets (1150/1155/1151) such as this one - https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-048-AL
