ive knocked my card up a little in amd overdrive just checking here if thats ok, ive got core clock upto 960mhz from 900mhz, and the memory clock upto 1140mhz from 1050mhz, this seems to be the level i get no lock ups in 3Dmark. I dont really want to run the voltage up as i dont want any more heat or to shorten the life of my card.

My 3dmark score have gone up from 3800 ish to 4100 on this clock does that seem about right on this card (all on default settings as its only basic version)

just want to check this is safe and my 3dmark scores are where they should be for my graphics card.

thanks

Don't worry about overclocking. I have a 9800Pro here that works and I had this overclocked too :). In fact I've never had a card die on me and I've overclocked every card after the 9800Pro. You always just need to read what to look out for and what is safe for temps, volts etc.

As your score has risen then it seems as if the overclock is working. If you do experience any freezes or crashes then it may be down to using an auto fan preset. I've usually found that with ATI that they put the fan speed a lot lower than I would like so I sometimes just have the card on a certain percentage of fan speed. So keep an eye on temps through GPUz and get GPUz to log a file on temps so you can monitor what was going on whilst you are gaming/benchmarking.

If the game/benchmark still freezes when you have the fan speed up then yes the overclock may be unstable. If you revert back to the previously working clock and experience no crash or freeze then there's your answer ;). It's at this point where some would add volts to get their card stable at their desired clocks.
