evening ladys and gents

after all these good reports of high clocks with the crucial balistix 5300 i thought id get myself some today

so ive managed to get it this far:

newclocks.jpg

im stuck now ive tried timings from 4-4-4-12 to 5-5-5-18 and volts from 2.1-2.3

i was running unlinked in sync mode (stays at 1:1)

it would boot into windows at 3.25 ish but failed orthos after 7 secs

tried to give memory some more in unlinked mode but the next divider put it at 960 ish and it wouldnt get past the xp load screen

im using a 6 month old acf7p so its a good clock TBH for the old f7p

where should i go from here ? new cooler ? i fancy a thermalright ultra 120

what do you guys reckon

its still sittin nice after 2 and a 1/4 hours so fingers crossed :D

what cooler are you using?

tbh that is pretty good for on air, any more you will be cooking the chip!!!

Id just be happy there, if you want to go furteher go to water :)

well i did 3 hours orthos last night so that will do for now ill leave it over night later in week when ive finished d/ling a torrent

so does anyone think i could get more with a decent cooler like the thermalright 120 extreme?

A different cooler will make very little difference IMO. As you can see in my sig. I use the ACF7Pro and have no problems (similar temps) at 3.4GHz. That's with the fan speed set at around 800RPM.

Your temps do not seem too bad, although they may change if you decide to apply some more volts to the CPU. In that case, a more expensive cooler may make a small difference but personally I have had better results by improving the airflow through the case.

cheers mate, i have 2x 120mm scythe one front and rear, and i ve got 2 akasa ambers one blowing at intake on my acf7p and one at my gpu

so mabee thats my limit ive tried up to 1.4 vcore in bios
