Hi i have just brought a AMD Athlon 64 4000+ San Diego (Socket 939) - OEM (CP-175-AM) CPU.

I have overclocked it to 2.75 with windows runing ok, anything over and it will not boot in to windows. But when i play any games my pc crashes, so i have to clock it back down to 2.52 before games will play ok.

Why is this as i have heard that you can clock it up to 3.0 gig ?

My spec is
Foxconn NF4UK8AA-8EKRS mainborad
AMD 64 4000
1.50 gig of ddr ram
HIS ATI Radeon X1900 XT-X

tbh cant c u getting much more from that board, had 1 before went dfi, the foxconn always thru up trouble no matter what tryed with anything over 300ghz + oc.

1.5 gig of ram, that 3 x512 sticks, or 2x512 ddr + 1 extra stick ???
if all ram is diff, this would cause probs trying 2 Oc the best from u rig

if u have 2 x512 ddr, try with just that, if diff types of ram, (corsiar, ocz Ect)
try OC with the best u have

I have 2x 512 ddr plus 2x 256 ddr

try with the 2x 512 sticks

lower ht to 3x, try divider ect
try a little extra power 2 cpu & ram WHEN needed for extra stabilty, G/L :)

I used to have that mobo and my 3000 venice would top out at 2.22, I got a asus mobo and it did 2.6. Never seen that mobo as a stable one, I'm not sure that might be your problem, also try oc'ing woth ust ram in two slots and see results!

Thanks i will try that.

I am thinking of geting a new motherborad, do you recommend that i get one and if so which one should i go for that would be perfect for my setup ?
