The Rig:
Q6600 w/ Akasa AK 961 Socket 775 CPU Cooler
Asus Striker Extreme
4gig corsair cas4
8800gtx
xfi xtreme gamer
coolermaster 850W PSU

The Problem:
Ages ago i overclocked my cpu to an average 2.7 and ran it stable for about 3 months. I Tried upping it to 3ghz and it kept crashing on me.

Since then when i try to overclock im getting an error. even when overclocking to 2.5ghz (1111 fsb)
1. "Warning: A new CPU detected & ROMSIP table has been updated accordingly." This message just appears, and then dissappears to be replaced by some green writing that is there for just a split second. before rebooting and doing exactly the same. The Green writing is unreadable due to the fact it just flashes on and off.

So i press the old "Reset CMOS" button and all is well again. but i cant overclock...

I disabled all the settings in bios, par XD bit.

Running bios 1502 btw

Any insight would be appreciated :)

Please, any help here guys? Literally, this PC does not want to overclock, yet it's perfectly stable on stock settings, running orthos for 18 hours, memtest fine, 3dmark 06, fine... what could possibly be the problem here? Any feedback in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
