I'm a noob at this and I'm going to try and overclock my system but I'm not sure what order to do it in?

My ram is currently sitting at 1333mhz and the cpu is at stock.

Ram: Geil Black Dragon 8gb (2x4)
CPU: i5 3570K
MB: Gigabyte Z77-D3H

Your ram is unlikely to overclock. Even if it does, there would be little point going above the stock 1.5v to get what would most likely be 1600mhz at best.*

*If your ram is rated at 1600mhz tho, set it to that in bios.

Overclock the cpu to around 4.2ghz, get it stable and call it a day.

as above.
always cpu first, so make sure the ram is at stock speed
then stress test with Intel Burn Test and/or Prime95 with avx

Thanks, I've overclocked the cpu but the settings don't seem right, although running intel burn test on very high for 10 iterations hasn't caused any faults?

Whats the best way to get the settings to post up here?

download cpu-z and open it.
leave it on the cpu page
now open it again and leave it on the memory tab. so u have cpu-z open twice.
now take a screen grab (print page)
upload it to a image hosting site like flickr or imageshack.
then if u notice in the top of the box, when u writing a reply, u will see a little tab for 'Insert Image', copy the link into this.
thats it
