Overclock reverting back to stock

Will/can bios ever revert back to auto settings if it thinks things are going wrong?

I had my processor clocked to 400 and at some point the feature to manual clock had reverted back to 'auto'.

My Gigabyte X38 does that if my overclock is unstable / fails at boot.
Lower your overclock slightly and see how that goes, then slowly raise upto 400mhz.
could have just had one of those moments

ok. If i reduce my CPU freq will the memory freq decrease? (or increase - cant remember) Do i not need to keep it at 800mhz?

I think the memory speed should decrease.

Im was wondering if it will be depremental to the clock with slower memory clock speed.
