Had my cpu at 4.5 for a lot of months with no isses, passed 12+ hours of prime. Last day or so ive been trying to get it to 4.8, but its hitting around 81-82c in temps so reverted to my 4.5 settings.

Now all of a sudden im getting bsod's at settings that were previously rock solid. The settings were backed up in the bios which has slots for multiple settings to be saved, for some reason though they seem to be suddenly unstable.

Errors usually show 101 or 124 error in the BSOD which generally means more vcore needed. Just not sure why exactly it would need more vcore having previouly been rock solid at the saved settings. Could this be some sort of weird side effect of having to ratchet the vcore to 1.4 to achieve 4.8?

You could have degraded the CPU with the higher V and higher T.

Very much doubt it, it was only at the higher voltage for an hour or so tops priming. The max thermals for this cpu is around 96c before it starts to throttle so i was a good way off that. Still tinkering to see whats up with it. :)

that happened with me when i was playing around with the baseclock and multi.

i was trying to achieve 5ghz using a higher baseclock and less multi to see if i could drop volts, it kept bsod, ing (101 and 124) on me so i reverted back to my saved set up windows then prompted me to perform a restore due to a critical error.

once that had done its course my 24/7 setup refused to work? so i bumped everything up and worked my way down again to the exact same settings before and that is where i am now.

im happy where i am and wont play around agin........ for a while! ;)

Its a pain in the ass, happened me once before and it seemed as if the bios profile save feature wasn't recording the settings properly, so had them down on a post it..which i now can't find.
