Hey,

I was wondering, how far can I expect to get my Q6600 2.4GHz up to? I am currently on stock HSF, which keeps my Q6600 at around 70c, which to be honest I'm not very impressed about, but anyway, I'm looking to get a http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-029-AR now I was wondering, how far could I expect to get my Q6600 to if I used this HSF?

I'm new to overclocking and I'm hesitant to do it, but if I can boost my Q6600 from 2.4GHz on all four to something like 3GHz on all four then I see it is worth doing, it will save me a lot of money getting a better processor in the future.

Also, I have a question, would it be safe to hacksaw off the giant cone on my cooler? I have a giant cone coming of the CPU Fan which comes out right to the side of the case, it is about 2-5 centimeters from the side case when it is put on, I'm thinking of sawing it off to increase air flow onto the CPU.

You'll easily be able to get the q6600 to 3.4 like I have, probably further because thats a better cooler if you buy it... :)

Well that's a nice thought. One question though, have you overclocked before? Since I haven't it will probably take me a while longer than you xD

Nope, I tried for the first time a couple of weeks ago and I'm at 3.4 stable now. Plenty of threads on here to show you the basics and also suggestions on what settings to use...

Have a search, should keep you busy :D

Oh ok, that gives me hope. Yea, a lot of stuff to read though, which is my main issue, I can't be bothered, but if I can get to 3.4GHz I'd be very happy.
