Overclocked and Temps Dropped?

I just overclocked my Q6600 to 3.2 with 400x8.0 and for some reason my temps at load have dropped from 60 to 54, can anyone think of any reason why this is?

Have you fans speeded up?

Nope they are the same speed as they were before, only a stock intel cooler mind

The stock cooler will have a PWM fan on it won't it? So maybe it's spun up but you've not realised?

It comes on when the processor was on load on stock clock aswell, same speed. As i told it to go 100% speed on 100% load

Thermal paste setting in? Try putting it back at stock and checking temps. Could also be the mo bo screwing up auto volts if it is on.

Probably the motherboard on auto volts messing about, oh well got it back stock now on 1.15v in bios

are you using as5 that was newly applied when you first took temps, and overclocked a few days later?

The CPU temperature reading on ASUS P5Qs is broken at the moment, especially with the latest bios. Have a look at your indavidual core temperatures with Core Temp or something, they may be a lot higher.

I am using the core temp and taking an average of it
