Overclocked bundle + optical drive = no go

Hello

I recently bought an overclocked bundle from OCUK as follows:

- CPU: Intel Core i5 2500K 3.30GHz @ 4.60GHz Sandybridge CPU
- Motherboard: Asus P8Z68-V Intel Z68 (default choice)
- 8GB DDR

I have an oldish dvd writer with an ide interface and the board doesn't have any ide connections. I bought a Unitek ide to sata converter and set this up but the board still doesn't see the drive.

The board seems to be set to the default AHCI interface and I think this is the problem.

Question is - Can I fix the dvd drive whilst maintaining AHCI and if not can I go out and buy a fairly standard SATA dvd writer for £20 or so and will that likely work, I ask because Google shows lots of links with people having problems with AHCI and sata optical drives.

Any ideas / suggestions?

Thank you

My very ordinary Samsung DVD writer works using AHCI. Maybe you can set one sata controller to AHCI and the other to IDE?
