I bought one of OC's E5300 @ 3.2 Ghz with the P43 motherboard and 4GB DDR2 bundle mid october. I installed it into an old lian li case and then proceeded to install win 7 on it, (on a fresh 1 tb drive). I also installed an XFX 4870 for the graphics. For a month or so it worked no problem. Then it started getting random restarts, now it simply gets bsod, telling me a registry error has occurred. I built the computer for my next door neighbour, and tbh, it's one thing after another. My first suspicion is that the 600 watt generic psu doesn't have the grunt for the system, I do have a 600W enermax which i'm going to try, see if that improves anything.

Aside from that, as the system came pre-clocked, I'm loathe to fiddle with bios settings, especially as my last clocking forrays were on the A64 platform. Can someone give me the heads up on what are the main things to look out for when clocking an E5300? Things like max safe voltage etc? I'm thinking maybe trying a tad more vcore and see if it improves? I'm fairly sure it's due to the crappy psu not giving enough juice, so changing out the psu will be my first port of call. Oh and btw, the temps are like 40-45C

Any suggestions as to what else I can try would be gratefully recieved, I know I could look all this info up, but I don't have hours to trawl through a load of threads. Damn 2 year old daughter already stopped my overclocking, just eat up too much time and money :(

I wouldn't have thought its the PSU; my friend has a dirt cheap 550W WinPower and he has a Phenom II X4 and a 4850 and his PC has been solid for ages, and he is a heavy gamer.

Thinking on it I take it back somewhat as I guess with cheaper PSUs you proabably have a 50/50 chance of getting a decent one or a crap one

I'd say the PSU would be worth checking out mate, I had similar issues the other day with this old AMD system I'm using atm, random resets and BSOD's all over the place.

I changed the PSU and it's been perfect ever since.

You could try loading optimized defaults in the BIOS and see if that makes any difference, but it'd be worth testing it out with your Enermax PSU first if you are unsure about making changes to BIOS settings.

I'd also suggest posting a thead in the Customer Services section if this bundle was only bought in October, as it'll still be under warranty, so one of the techs will be able to give you the help you require if the Enermax PSU doesn't make any difference.

Thanks guys, I'll let you know how I get on, working tonight so I'll swop the psu tomorrow.
