I bought the Krypton Z77 660i bundle along with a MSI HD 7850 Twin Frozr III which I put together last night. I installed a fresh copy of windows 7 and ran a few stress test as instructed in a sticky here with Prime 95 and CPU-Z then ran a 3dmark11 test which came out as normal. I turned on the system this morning and nothing would display on the monitor I tried taking out cables and plugging back in but no change. I plugged the DVI into the onboard video and it worked so I reset the bios then reinstalled the gfx card and it still won't work. Is the gfx card dead should I return it for a replacement ?

Only other things I have in my case is a 500gb Sata drive and a 550w Fatality PSU which all worked fine last night

Rjc that worked !! Thank you but that doesn't excuse it not working the first slot right ? Bacon why would it be the psu ? The system ran fine last night and the fatality psu's are ocz branded that's not bad right ?

Update: I've also noticed that the system is really loud but I can't pinpoint which fan is causing all the noise

Ahhhh its an OCZ one ok, should be decent then. There was another fatality PSU I was thinking off which sucks big time ;)

Will do Nath but surely that doesnt explain the noise levels since it occurs as soon as the system is powered on and the card wouldn't be at full load ? I'm going to try getting a different PSU tommorow to test and see if the noise levels decrease

It could be that the card is loading a strange fan profile from somewhere.

Have you had any previous GPU monitoring software installed such as rivatuner etc?

However I have seen certain graphics cards that run at maximum fan speed until the drivers have loaded up in the OS.

I'm such a noob I solved the noise issue by unplugging the golf fan which came with the bundle it was running at full speed constantly which was causing most of the noise. the machine is now a lot quieter but not silent due to the CPU fan (phantom knight) but its bearable. Thanks for all the suggestions

Just when I thought everything was working the problem with the graphics card not working in the main PCIe slot is still happening I've tried messing in the bios but nothing works. The system seems to boot and works fine if plugged straight into the on board video but the monitor doesn't switch on when plugged into the gfx card. it will eventually start working magically after booting the system around 20 times ! any suggestions ?
