Hi all, wondered if i could get some help. I'm a complete novice when it comes to pc's so purchased this *OVERCLOCKED* Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping (SLBEJ) 2.66Ghz @ 4.20GHz Max / Asus Rampage II Extreme Intel X58 Motherboard / Corsair XMS3 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz DDR3 Bundle, 3.80GHz Overclock, back in oct last year.

A friend of a friend built it all up for me (he works in a pc repair shop) and tested everything and it was all working great at the overclocked speed.

After a couple of months had some conflict issues with some software that resulted in the pc resetting back to stock settings. Everything still worked fine and i had a new baby and house move to contend with so wasn't too bothered or had the time to look into it. Now i'm set up in new house and back gaming a bit more and trying to learn more about pc's and i would like to get the overclock back.

I have been into the bios set up and seen bios1 - normal, bios2 -performance and as it was booting from bios1 have changed to boot from bios2 but processor still running at the stock 2.66GHz according to 3Dmark test. I wondered if there is anything else i could do that was very simple, that would get the overclock back, ie something that overclockers have put in the set up that i just need to activate?

I know from all the reading i have done that i could try an overclock but haven't got the confidence at the min and need to learn a lot more before i try changing all the settings myself !!!

btw, my friend has fallen out with his mate so can't go back to him!

Would be gratefull for any advise and hope all that rambling makes some sense.

Hi there,

The bios profile will have been saved to bios 1 ignore the "standard" and "performance" options as these are just titles set by Asus.

Load bios 1 and then scroll across the tabs to "tools" and then scroll down and select the profile titled "ocuk" and press enter to load it. This will then load the overclocked profile.

Let me know if you have any more issues.

hi m8, loaded the ocuk profile and checked in bios set up on reboot and all set back to the overclocked settings, thx. only problem i got now is when tried to start i got "os missing" on screen message!
i had a check around and it seems to of messed with the hard drive set up as they are no longer in "raid", i will now have a read around to see if i can set this back up.
i wonder why this happened? but i'm enjoying the learning curve i'm on even if it is at the very basic level!!

thx for ur help

steve
