My mainboard is an Asus P5QL/EPU, CPU is an Intel Quad Core Q6600 2.4Ghz and 8GB DDR2 PC6400 800MHz memory installed on a Windows 7 PC.

Overclocking is quite simple (even for me, a first time overclocker!) with this board in that you choose a percentage.
I've currently chosen 20% so I assume my CPU would be running at 2.88GHz.

Which booting the CPU is reported correctly as 2.4GHz with speed as 2.89GHz.

However, CPU-Z reports:

Core Speed - 1921.8 MHz
Multiplier - x 6
Bus Speed - 320.3
Rated FSB - 1281.2 MHz

Is there something wrong somewhere?

Nope, nothing wrong there, you have intel speedstep enabled, this drops the cpu multiplier to 6x, its basically a power saving feature, put the cpu under a bit of load and youll see the muti rise to 9x and your 2.89ghz clockspeed.
