im wondering is it worth it?

i oc'd my his ati 5770 gpu from 850mhz core an 1200 mem to 1000mhz and 1300

theres a benchmark test in just cause 2

before the oc the average fps was 30 after the oc it went upto 33fps

thought i would get a little more than a 3fps boost

tbh though from about 920mhz i see no improvement in fps at all:confused:

just wondering what u guys think:confused:

thanks

It depends on the games you play/things you do. If you see animprovement in them, then overclocking is worth it. If you can't visibly notice a difference, then go back to stock clocks.

cool thanks for the info :)

think i will keep it at 930mhz because compared to 1000mhz there is no difference at all

exept a higher voltage and higher temps :p

Sounds about right to be honest.

You have to bare in mind that Just Cause 2 is a 'fairly' demanding game...3fps increase might not seem much, but going from 30fps to 33fps is actually 10% increase in frame rate :p

Seriously, if overclocking low-end graphic card would give you 10fps increase in demanding games, then I can't see how the mid to high end graphic market would be making much money at all :D

cool thanks for the info guys

10% boost sound so much better than 3fps

its funny though when i overclocked and unlocked my phenom 555 be i went from an average fps of 19 on the same just cause 2 benchmark after the overclock it went up to an average of 30 fps pritty amazing that one made a big difference

thanks guys

run 3d mark vantage and post your scores. i have nearly the same card (xfx 5770) and ive writen loads of score i have from clocking so ill no if your card is being bottlenecked

Does the ram on the 5770s start slowing down due to error correction? Just thinking if your minimums are taking a hit your ram may not be stable.

TPU 5770s review gave 11% increase after OC so you seem in the correct ballpark.

ok heres the 3dmark results before and after the oc

before 850mhz 1200 mem

after 960mhz 1250 mem
