Hi Guys,

My system keeps crashing when its overclocked to 4.00Ghz. I originally purchased an overclocked bundle and used my existing PSU.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-042-OE&groupid=43&catid=339&subcat=

but with a Akasa cooler, as thats what was in the bundle at the time of purchase.

My bundle Spec:

- CPU: Intel Core i3 2.93GHz @ 4.00GHz
- Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2H (Socket 1156) DDR3 Motherboard
- RAM: Corsair XMS3 (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel
- Cooler: Akasa AK-967 V2 Nero Direct Contact Heatpipe CPU Cooler

Additional parts i bought with bundle:

-Case: Antec 300
-Intel X25-M Mainstream 80GB 2.5" SATA-II Solid State Hard Drive

Existing parts I used from my old set up:

-XFX ATI Radeon HD 5770 XXX Edition 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express
-PSU Xilence 600W

I have ran memtest and prime95 for 24 hours separately and both say nothing is wrong.

however, as soon as its in the overclocked mode the pc will crash after a while. BSOD.

Error message:

This was likely caused by the following module: ntoskrnl.exe
Bugcheck code: 0x50 (0xFFFFFA8061CF19EB, 0x0, 0xFFFFF800028D34FF, 0x5)
Error: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

i am aware the bundle is under full 12 months collect and return warranty, but i dont want to be wasting there time or it being a software problem.

i have windows 7 ultimate installed 64bit.

anything i can check before i send it back as a faulty bundle?

Thanks.

thanks all.

running prime and memtest in the overclocked mode is successful. pc does not crash.

mainly it crashed during gaming. When i am playing COD4 - MW2.

The bundle works fine at stock speed of 2.93Ghz.

I have checked the temperature and its under 35 overclocked straight after gaming.

The PSU is coming up to 3 years old or is already 3 years old.

So it could be the PSU?

i am going to run OCCT v3.1.0 for 12 hours tonight.

will post results tomorrow.

I live in Palmers Green.

i ran OCCT for 8 hours at the default config of 2.93Ghz. pc ran fine and did not crash.

So i ran OCCT using the overclocked config at 4.00Ghz for 12 hours and the pc still did not crash.

i have left the voltage settings as whatever overclockers supplied in the bundle.

i will be playing COD4 MW2 tonight and if it crashes i will post the "whocrashed log" here.

Thanks.

It normally BSOD when playing games. COD is the only game i play.

I ran OCCT all night. Tested the CPU, PSU and GPU and all seemed fine. No errors.

I played COD for 2 hours solid last night using the OCUK BIOS settings and it ran fine.

I did update the ATI drivers recently. I am not sure if that helped.

If or as soon as it crashes. I will post the log file here.

thanks all.

its running @ 4Ghz fine at the moment.

if i get any BSOD i will post.

The Pc just crashed in the middle of a COD4 MW2 gaming session. Worked fine all weekend when i played for hours.

The screen froze, but i could hear everyone i had on skype. Then the monitor switched off and the pc fans stayed on.

I had to keep hold of the on button to switch the pc off.

the whocrashed report only has a previous error message from May.

back to the drawing board.

couldnt u just bring it all back to normal clocks and no overclocking and then test stability out in gaming/general use for a few days....

Then at least u know its the hardware and not software and possibly something else like the p/s ?

The PC runs fine on the normal settings.

I am going to purchase a new PSU this week:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-008-CS&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=

or will the 1 below do the same job?

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-031-OC

or maybe even?

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-047-OC

please advise.

Thank you.

i have ordered the Corsair HX 650W ATX Modular SLI Compliant Power Supply (CMPSU-650HXUK) [CMPSU-650HXUK]

if it still crashes after that. i will take your offer up and contact you via customer support.

thanks.

i am expecting delivery of the PSU next week.

just thought i would run FurMark 1.8.2

Ran it at resolution 1440x900 on the xtream burning mode for 16 minutes and got no error messages.

min temp = 52
max temp = 81
Current stable temp while running = 79

if it was a driver issue would it of crashed during this test?
