Hi all,

Just a quick question, got my i7-4790k running at 4.7MHz with 1.275v nice and stable, temps are all good to. Only options changed in the BIOS where the ratio and vcore as stated.

In windows power options I have the option to set the minimum processor state and the maximum processor state. By default the 'balanced' setup ranges from 5% - 100% whereas the 'Performance' option is locked at 100%.

Is there any advantage in letting the processor down clock or should I just keep it locked on 100% i.e. 4.7MHz?

Thanks all.

For power consumption and CPU life.

1.275v is excellent for 4.7Ghz, but having it downclock to ~1.8Ghz with that sort of current wouldn't be a great idea. Unless you look in to voltage offets and LLC so that the volts drop with the clock, I'd stick to 100%.
