Hello guys.

I've just spent all afternoon installing a new i7 930 @ 4.20 Ghz / Asus rampage II Extreme intel X58 mobo / Patriot viper 6Gb ram DDR3 PC312800C9 into an Antec 1200 case. Took me ages getting all the cabling neat ( had the mobo in and out loads of times ).

Finally got it sorted. Turned it on and during the start up saw a message flash 'overclock failed'. When I go into the system and run CPUZ, it tells me the i7 is running at 2.80 Ghz.

In the BIOS it tells me in Yellow text in the 'Extreme Tweaker' section that "Target CPU Frequency: 4200 Mhz" - but it's not!!!

Anyone know how I get it run in the pre-overclocked profile?

Any help appreciated!!!!!

Also, There shoukld be an iption somewhere like Load BIOS or similar. Use it and select the overclock.

hey manx, i recently purchased this bundle also, if u go into ur bios there shud b a tools section 6th tab. u go to the Asus OC Profil, then scroll down to Load CMOS Profiles Hit Enter and select the OCuk profile.

just make sure u dont do wat i did and click on uninstall and wipe the profile away. my bundle is back with ocuk getting theprofile reapplied.

good luck with ur bundle, if u have any qestions use the manual, page 3-45.

hope that helps.

Thanks Justin!!!!!!!!! Core speed went up to to 4208 Mhz in CPU-Z!

The core speed went down to 2405 and the multiplier halved when idle - is that right?

Hi

This is absolutely how it should behave!

Its Intel speed step, stop is making un-needed heat when idling. Soon as you do anything that needs power (as in within 0.001 seconds or something stupid) it goes back up-to 4.2GHz
