I'm about to buy the processer for my build, last bit, and i'm stumped now as to if I should get an E8400 or get a Q6600 and get around 3.6GHz out of it. I'm using this mostly for games and I know that games are going to start using Quad Core's soon hopefully, with Far Cry 2 being an example. Just looking for some opinions thanks.

If it's for gaming, the E8400 would be best at present in my opinion.

Should do 4Ghz which is plentiful CPU power for all modern titles (and for the forseeable future).

When 4 cores are utilised properly in gaming, through game engines that scale for n number of threads or whatever, you will be able to gain a far better bang for buck in purchasing a quad at that point.
