Hi, so I've got a Ryzen 5 3600 and bought 16gb 3000mhz C15 Crucial Ballistix ram to go with it.

I used the DRAM Calculator to get some timings for 3400Mhz C16, so I got it going and it booted, awesome. Survived a stress test - nice. When benching it, I've seen a drop in performance - I've lost 100 pts in Cinebench R20, and I've lost ~200 pts in 3DMark TimeSpy.

I know I've gone from C15 to C16, but I didn't expect a drop in performance given the jump in clock speed? Could it be some of the manual timings are way out? When setting them in my BIOS (X470 Gaming Plus) there were a couple of settings that were higher, but only by a margin of +/- 2 on timings.

I'm a bit confused about how I can get such a degredation in performance? HWInfo64 of my memory attached

My CPU is running at 4,150MHz, same as before, my CPU speeds and temps appear unaffected (50C running Time Spy, with all cores running at 4150, spiking down to 3900 occasionally)

EDIT: So I just compared my TimeSpy scores...
3000mhz C15 run: https://www.3dmark.com/spy/11229440
3400mhz C16 run: https://www.3dmark.com/spy/11586911

It looks like my CPU score has gone up _slightly_ but my graphics score has dropped by about the same amount? The only other thing that's different is using a newer driver version.

Question is propably about "secondary" and "tertiary" timings, which might have been kicked back quite lot, if you didn't set them manually.
Do you have any examples of which timings? I only left about 2 or 3 on Auto due to them existing in my BIOS but not the calculator, didn't wanna touch
