how can i tell if my system is overclocked.

would run cpuid and you should be able to find out

Run CPU-Z and if Speedstep/Cool n Quiet (Dont know if you have AMD or Intel) is enabled then load up a program so CPU speed ramps up to max.

Ok, which particular model? It should tell you its default clock and then compare it with the clock that CPU-Z reads
