ok so I was going to buy a axis gtx 1060 6gb on sale for £218.99 down from £259.99. Unfortunately I missed the sale, went on to see if there was any in stock and they had all been sold.... but now the price is £319.99.

This is crazy, it is up £100, why is this??? What a rip off.

I have even screenshot th price difference.

Mining is the main reason for the price hike and also increasing memory costs. Its up £60 from the original normal price. Unfortunately its all about supply vs demand atm

Yes all cost are dramatically increased due to memory shortage and overall short supply due to mining.

Our best 1060 right now is the Zotac Mini 6G which is on the site at £299.99 but using a voucher code I posted on the forum drops the price down to £239.99 and this is still valid. Check the thread out I made for the codes. :)

That's computer retail for you. I worked in it for many years and it's the probably the shadiest form of retail about. There is little control with regards to MSRP's or RRP's and people essentially charge what they can get away with generally under the "supply and demand" excuse. Don't know about you but I've never been charged more because of a shortage of any other electrical equipment (or anything else for that matter). Even when the old Pioneer Kuro's were like rocking horse muck I never paid extra for it from one of only 2 retailers I could find with them left in the country.

I might be wrong but I can't imagine Nvidia are charging more because of it so it's all on the retailer. If Nvidia are then of course it stinks even more.

^^

+1 indeed. Its a bit like the holiday companies doubling and tripling prices in the summer when schools are off.....supply and demand innit ;)

Heh! Things are always shady when you're not on the winning side. :p

You do realise the PC component market is one of the most competitive retail markets there is and margin are amongst the tightest for mid to high value items?

Companies don't make money if they have no stock to sell.

Unless your desperate I would wait it out coin mining prices will pop at some point or have a look around on the Bay.

Shady businesses are shady.

Sort of like the prices going mental after the brexit vote. That must have been a nice money spinner whilst it lasted...

Not as much as you're imagining. OCUK, like many retailers, buy a large proportion of their stock in U.S. Dollars. The strength of the pound tanked, thus meaning that the same shipments were costing more USD.

Yup GPU prices are out of control ATM. Had to buy my wife's MSI 1060 Gaming X for £329. I had to finish it asap so I doubt I would spend that much ever again.
£329! They are going for £267 elsewhere (not naming names). You need to brush up on your shopping skills.
