Overclockers policy with returned products

Hello all,

I bought a couple hard disk from oc. The service was perfect. Totally brand new devices. My concern is what happens when somebody returns a product back to overclockers. Does overclockers send the open product to other customers ordering it?

I am sorry to ask this but I live in the developing part of Europe and this practice is extremely common in my country (Spain). I just don't want to use luminol to search for fingerprints and fluids in my supposed to be brand new purchases! ;)

If someone confirms this point bye bye to spanish retailers...

Happy new year!

Hello all,

I don't think OCUK themselves knowingly ship "used" or "opened" products as new.

Recently, I think some people in the graphics card forum suspected Gainward of reshiping opened/returned products as new/RMA repacement.

Don't think it was anything to do with OCUK directly.

Also, I am not wanting to pick on Gainward in particular. Maybe other wholesalers are just as guilty?

I'd imagine anything thats returned and found not to be faulty is resold in the B grade section at a lower price.

Hmmm. I would have thought that if a product is returned by a customer to OCUK because it's faulty, they would then have to send it back to the manufacturer. We buy stuff from OC, but they have to buy the parts from somewhere. They must have warranties on the parts they buy in too or something.

When I sent my faulty Seagate HDD back to OCUK for RMA they sent me a B Grade one in return. I don't know if that's actual policy or not.

But they won't sell you used items unless clearly stated.

ok,
I used to work for a very reputable high street photographic chain which also dealt in part exchanges etc.
I received a memo from head office stating that if any px goods came into our possesion in mint to near mint condition we should send them to head office for them to check and then sell as new......I kid you not!

Sorry if its a little off on a tangent, but I figure you should know!

This happens in several reputable high street chains (that I work or have worked in) - personally I thought the practise was illegal... and sometimes the products aren't even in that mint a condition.

From my experience OCuk don't appear to knowingly do this as a rule - but some manufacturers haven't been as good asus (personal experience) and gainward (from a number of forum posts) atleast have been guilty of this.

OK thanks. A spanish retailer, similar to OC, once pass me a kingston memory kit with the seal broken...
It happens everywhere, there are a few budget internet retailers here that have a reputation like that also ,they arent too hard to find on google either. at least one of these companies has been fined for faking product reviews and selling fakes made in China. just be careful and use reputable suppliers,

All i know is i ordered parts for my new pc from a few different suppliers and the delivery bloke sent by ocuk was patient and waited for me to check the contents, from one of the others I was talked to like **** by some a**hole teenager,
He was in a rush and thought it ok to speak to me like that, what do you expect from parcel force mind.
needless to say there were broken parts in the box, luckily thet werent essential.
I will never use them again.

It's pretty standard policy for hard drive and motherboard companies to use repaired items as RMA replacements.

Seagate received a faulty hard drive, they added it to the pile of faulty ones and sent you back one from the pile of repaired ones.
