I was looking at my prebuild 2 years down the line to replace thermal paste and general cleaning and the aios plastic film was left on aswell as several different snapped motherboard pins and also a missing m.2 heatsink i dont know what happened to the build when it was being made amy tips from anyone for further steps

I’m amazed that in two years you never had an overheating issue with the CPU if the plastic was left on it…!

It was reaching 100 but only recently found out hense the clean and reapply of thermal paste jusy assumed after 2 years it was thermal paste issue

Did you get it from OCUK? (if not, do not say where from as it is against the forum rules)

It may have come with a 3 year warranty, but be prepared to prove that you did not cause the damage.

What motherboard have you got? Some only come with one M.2 heatsink.

Are they actually snapped motherboard pins? some boards come with header pins missing or cut for missing features where different versions of the board exist. Though wouldn't surprise me as I've seen very different levels of pre-build standard over the years. I know one place just throws school leavers on it at peak times of year with minimal training... and good luck everyone.

I can't speak for OcUK but I've setup pre-builds for people from other places which have an A4 size warning taped on the case to remove protective film from the case and internally where relevant before.

There are headers that are visibly missing pins and 2 stamdoffs for a heatsync identical to the other heatsink but theres not a heatsync there dont know weather it could have been removed for cable managment either way it should have been sent out

It was from ocuk but as i have recently done work on it i think it would be near impossible to prove

Yeah, i should have taken note of the thread title.

What about the motherboard though, as i said some only came with one heatsink.

Also what work did you do, was it just the re-paste and a clean? Would like to think this would not affect your warranty.

I had a PC for 3 years that ran a bit hot at times but seemed ok, when I passed it down to my nephew I decided to fit a new AIO cooler to help with temperatures and noticed that I hadn't put the heatsink on properly and it was only covering half the cpu

Cleaning of dust and reapply of thermal paste

After 2 years since it was built / delivered can't see them doing much
At least the OP will know for definite, one way or the other.

Just thought, some of the headers are missing a pin so you can only plug a cable in one way. They will be USB and Audio headers.
