Overclockers prebuild damage

TBF not all motherboards will come with heatsinks for all of the M.2 drives, some will only have a heatsink for the primary slot depending on the tier of motherboard.

yep although my current in use x570 board has onlly got a heatsink on the secondary m.2 but im guessing they assumed yyou would use your own on the primary cpu connected m.2 i guess

Legally it's a bit tricky - you're out of warranty (presumably) so you'd have to be able to prove the fault existed at the time of purchase.

If you have photos of showing the damage from the time you received it, you may be able to rely on your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. You'd struggle to argue leaving the plastic on the aio would amount to damage, unless the there's clear evidence that the CPU has been permanently damaged. It might point to a sloppy install, but ocuk are likely to argue any other damage wasn't done by them.

You'll also need to compare the mobo to reference photos to see what heatsinks should be there.

Based on the motherboard OP has mentioned (PRIME Z790-P) it only has a single M.2 heatsink. Both _2 and _3 M.2 slots don't have heatsinks included with the motherboard.

Compared to the motherboard photos I think it’s not missing the heat sink it just has standoffs for one aswell as the fact that the missing pins are just the layout of the board

Those aren't stand offs for a heatsink, those are standoffs for fitting different size m.2 drives.

Look right of the m.2 slot on the bottom
Just looked this up online.

Apparently the board only comes with one heatsink but it can be used either on the first or third M.2 slot.

Not sure what they was thinking of by doing this, they should have just supplied the extra heatsink.

Sorry, thought you were referring to the left. The one to right of the slot is for the heatsink - but it would be for the same heatsink as you have in the primary slot. Some motherboards do this and I have no idea why considering it's a fractional cost for a small piece of metal.

This info should all be in the mobo manual though?
