Hello
Why during checkout items price is different?

Dell Ultrasharp 2009WFP 20" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Midnight Grey - 160.99with VAT and during checkout price was changed for 164.99 with Vat

The same with speakers logitech x240 - 26.44 with Vat and checkout price is 27.01 with vat

I believe this is because on item page VAT is charged and shown at 15% but on checkout it is shown Per Item at 17.5% but if you check the totals box it has the discount for the 2%.

I agree, the shopping cart has gotten quite confusing now due to all the different discounts and reductions. This week only deals, free shipping, -2.5%...

Something odd is going on, I placed an order yesterday, it has arrived today, the invoice total is £395.49 but it appears that my card has been debited with £404.11

I can't find an email address on which to contact OCUK

Doh!

Yup, VAT overcharge, now refunded.

another order placed without a problem today.

Must've been teething problems, I bet small shops hate Brown and Darling!

I was just thinking about this whole VAT situation after discussing my purchases with someone. When we are buying goods from OCUK and we are situated in Ireland, we are charged 21% VAT by OCUK in the shop. As we are purchasing the goods in the UK shouldn't we only be paying the UK VAT and not the Irish VAT rate as we are not purchasing the goods physically in this country. Does this mean that we are paying more than we should be for our purchases when we are resided in Ireland? When purchasing goods, can't you only ever be charged the VAT in the country where the transaction is taking place? As the VAT would be forwarded to the UK government at the end of the year an Irish person couldn't claim the VAT back from them could they?

On all purchases that have been bought by anybody I know from Northern Ireland or the UK they have only ever been charged the UK VAT rate. Even when I purchased all my diving gear from Northern Ireland I was not charged the VAT as I provided a VAT number and so we just dealt with the transactions ex VAT and they held on to the VAT number to prove the purchases were for export. On the documentation it was marked on them all that the items were less the 17.5% VAT.
