Seems news has been doing the rounds that OCUK has been sold to Case king to the tune of 50 million Euro?

Source: UK unquote | 01 Feb 2012 | secure

Afinum portfolio company Caseking has acquired UK-based ecommerce business Overclockers UK.

KEY FACTS

Overclockers UK

DEAL - Acquisition finance

LOCATION - Newcastle-under-Lyme

SECTOR - Speciality retailers

FOUNDED - 1999

STAFF - 40

VENDOR - Founder

Afinum initially invested in German firm Caseking in 2010. The company is a distributor and ecommerce retailer of computer components to the PC gaming community.

Overclockers offers similar services in the UK. The acquisition continues the group's growth strategy and will almost double the size of the existing operation.

The combined group will leverage its strength in the two largest European markets to develop its position as a pan-European player. AFINUM and the management team are looking to achieve further growth by increasing the company's market share in existing markets and further expanding its presence in additional countries.

The transaction was funded with a balanced equity/debt structure. Debt was provided from DZ Bank and Berliner Volksbank, and arranged by Dirk Spangenberg, Simon Großmann, Jens Richter and Guido Schiller.

Company
Founded in 1999, Overclockers UK is an ecommerce retailer of specialised PC equipment in the UK, including hardware components, accessories, CPUs and customised PC systems. The company sells more than 2,000 articles from more than 100 brands mainly focused on the gaming and media PC communities. Headquartered in Newcastle-under-Lyme, the company employs around 40 staff.

http://webcache.googleusercontent.c...lockers+uk+case+king&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=uk direct link doesn't work for some reason.

Is this true and what does it mean for the forums etc?

Yeah maybe. Might have just been waiting to make an official announcement or something internally, rather than staff seeing it on the web.

I wouldn't be surprised if the staff have known about it for weeks, the internal rumour mill will be going round.

If I found it on google I'm sure others will.

if the forum isnt attatched to the shop (as it was always stated it wasnt years ago but ive not seen a don say it for a while now) then opening a new shop off the back of the forum probably wouldnt be a bad idea

It is though, you have the news section & deal section and customer support part, it's all linked to the shop.

Don't panic Mr Mainwairing :D

The forums are going nowhere folks. They are unique and here to stay. Of that you can be 100% certain.

I hope your right, but what is promised and what actually happens are two different things, now that ocuk has been obtained by new owners, they can do as they wish with their new asset.
