Any answer regarding my last question? I need to know ASAP so I can decide if I can afford the sapphire 290x for £250, need to order a few wc parts as well so it'll be over the £333(or whatever it is) minimum spend required.

So to confirm does it take £x/month in the 6/12minth period with £y to pay off by the end of the 6/12month + the £25 admin fee or is it pay 10% at start then the remaining £x +£25 admin fee by the end date?

There are several options

Buy Now Pay in 6/12 months=
1. Pay 10% deposit upfront
2. Pay remaining BEFORE end date + £25 at same time - to avoid the interest

Classic=
1. Pay deposit
2. Pay monthly fee
3. Get r4ped on interest

My experience anyway

Good luck

If your order is £400 then you pay £40 upon ordering, which leaves a balance of £360+£29 admin fee. So you'll have an outstanding balance of £389. As long as you pay that balance off within the selected time frame the that's all you'll pay.

I was turned down because of this - disability, so now I expect it has left a negative mark on my credit rating - not happy. I could have afforded the payments, but no dice.

It will show as a credit searching having been carried out on you but there will be no negative mark left because you weren't accepted.

Thanks for that - was worried about it, because all my life I have had an excellent credit rating.

So the remaining balance after the 10% depots isn't paid in monthly deposits if you pay within the 6/12 month period?

Nope, you can make payments when you like as long as you clear it before the BNPL period ends you'll not get any interest.

This, had a kitchen on 0% for the last 11 months, not paid a penny towards it. Just paid the balance in full this week before the interest kicks in. Just logged into my account on-line and paid it with debit card like any other purchase. My money is much better in my accounts for as long as possible then it is theirs.

Bought a sofa from a popular high street chain last year, had 2 choices pay cash which we had or take 0% credit for 1/2/3/4 year term. It's a no brainier to take the credit regardless of us having the cash.

Though I should note that I wouldn't buy a PC on finance, not something that I would position as a long term 'need' purchase, but finance definitely has its place and using it does not ruin your credit rating as some posters here would have you believe. What's the point of having a credit rating if you don't use it to your advantage!

I contacted them before hand and they said it wasn't a barrier. So went ahead and gave it a try, they said no. Fine I guess, if they don't want my money :p

Funny thing is, I bought it anyway and just used my credit card.... It would just have been handy to postpone the large sum till after Christmas and all. I even went for the 6 month option! But yeah. I am going to contact them to find out exactly why they turned me down just for future reference.

It's kinda crazy as I have two credit cards, a private health card (hospital bills) and an immaculate credit rating. Like, no missed payments, EVER. Guess I'm still not worthy thou :P

Not sure what they want, a blood sacrifice at midnight? A virgin offering by FedEx? XD

I am exactly the same situation as you, but still I was tyrned down despite an excellent credit history - ho hum. I have not bothered to follow up and ask them why - as they say they wont get in too discussions about it. Weird or what????????

well with the talk of people with good credit rating being rejected, I have no idea about my rating as i have no credit cards(had one over 10years ago as part of a student account but cancled as didn't use it), no mortage etc. Have a mobile contract and had a broadband contract years back.
Decided against the 290x so we'll never know how'd i'd have gotten on.

Free credit reports for life, why pay for one!

I used Hitachi finance a couple of years ago and it was fine, all paid off in time and no issues what so ever. It was just more convenient for me at the time as I wanted my cash flow for other things the month I was ordering. I'll 100% do the same thing again the next time I order.

I read somewhere some time ago (vague enough LOL?) that many credit companies don't like people with 'perfect' credit ratings - they prefer the mid-range that might slip up and forget to pay (incurring interest) or in the case of credit cards, companies can charge higher interest rates to people with poorer ratings.

Hopefully not being apocryphal, sure some geezer/ess in the finance industry can tell us the trooot :D

Thanks for that - just joined and got my report. I have a full five rating, yet I was still turned down for finance here?????????

You can't take these things personally. A lot of people feel that being turned down for credit is a slight on their trustworthiness. It's simply a business decision by the company offering credit. If you don't fit their target market, you won't get credit and indeed you can get turned down for credit even though a credit agency might report you as having a better rating than someone who gets accepted.
