Overclockers value ram

I have got a 1gb kit (2x512) of OCUK value RAM. They run stable at 200mhz making DDR400 @ 2.5-3-3-7 and mine runs at 220mhz @ 3-3-3-8, theyre rated to run @ 3-3-3-7 200mhz but they appear to be stable at 2.5-3-3-7. They are based on nanya chips which I have heard are better than the other chips on other value RAM. I have had mine for a year and has been very reliable.

do they actully run at 400? and they reliable? bcoz they are dirt cheap

Hi there

OcUK is cheap because we have a superb memory purchaser who is capable of buying memory cheaper than our competitors and we pass the savings on.

All OcUK Value memory uses Elixir/Nanya chips which are the best you can get, even Corsair use the same chips on some of their Value lines....

Nanya chips are no-nonsense chips. They might overclock, they might not, but they will do exactly what they say they will. These value chips from here are much better than some other unbranded chips. If you still feel unsure, GeIL Value is deemed one of the best value lines for 1GB with tightish timings of 2.5-3-3-6 1T IIRC.

To be honest all brandard ram, such are Elixir, Crucial, Nanya, Samsung are good quality and perform around the same, they just dont overclock very well like Corsair and Geil ect..

I have 4 x 512Mb Elixir DDR400s and as far as I can tell they are flaky as hell in my GF6150 mobo. They dont like DDR400 or DDR333 or loose settings or Auto settings.

At least thats all I can suggest is the reason why I cannot install XP on the machine when my other identical mobo/BIOS with 2x1024 Elixir DDR400 is quite happy (at DDR400).

I regularly see posts from people saying Elixir is total pants as memory. Which is it? I don't need "uber" memory or OC memory. I just want stuff that WORKS!

Hi there

The problem is not the memory rest assured but is most likely the fact you have all 4 DIMM slots populated in an nForce motherboard which is a common problem, unless of course one of the modules is faulty but thats unlikely.

In order to populate all four slots you tend to have to use pretty high quality RAM especially if you want to run at full speed with decent timings.

Thanks Gibbo... so basically even the newer GF6150 nForce boards are not able to support 4 slots? And I thought having 4 was good on the Foxconn board! Well at least I won't look a total dork trying to return "faulty" RAM now.

Geil Value is only £6 more expensive for the 2gig kit (its on this week only), worth the difference IMO.

unfortunatly i m only looking at 1 gb so i have no monee for 2gb. But will 1 gb of overclockers value ram be compatable with my FOXCONN 6150 K8-MA , mobo?

2 x 512Mb will be fine.. just dont go for 4 x 256... now if U wanna buy 2 x512 mail me cos I'm now sitting with mine spare! :(

Just as a point of interest, I tried 2 x 1g of Corsair xms3200c2pt and found that the overclocking/timings performance was worse than me old 2 x 1g PQI 3200 memory. I've since flogged the corsair and got some more of the PQI. The Corsair was almost £60 more expensive too! Total waste of time and money for me that stuff was. Must update me sig come to think of it.

I found I had that problem when I put 4 sticks of Geil Value ( 1gb -> 3gb) in my epox board. My solution was knock the ram down to DDR333 (166mhz?) get decent timings then up'd the CPU's HTT which then brought the ram automatically back upto speed, also got my X2 3800 running at 2.4ghz on stock cooling and volts, render stable!
