I'm after upgrading my motherboard, proc & ram, having decided what bungle i wanted i contacted overclockers and asked 'if I bought the bundle from them and a new case would they install it into the new case' They replied no.

Not happy because I do not feel confident enough to install the motherboard myself and i'm sure I would blow it up. Instalation of hard drives, optical drives, graphics cards, sound cards and OS are not a problem. Feel a little angry with overclockers as I stated I would pay extra for this.

Why wouldn't they do this??????

It's not that hard to piece it together. If you can do a jigsaw. You can hook up a mobo. Everything is labeled for you. Go through it slowly, 1 piece at a time. You'll enjoy it :) There's plenty of youtube videos up too explaining how ecverything fits.

I remember my first build. I was nervous as hell- but it turned out allright.

Mate if your confident in installing hdd etc then a motherboard and processor is simple to install. There are plenty of guides online to show you how to do it.

Just have a little confidence im sure you wil have no problems

im very surprised by this to be honest, because they do a 'spec your PC' option, and they also allow you to make adjustments to prebuilt computers that are available on OcUK, so why they wont put together an overclocked bundle and a case im not sure.

what overclocked bundle and case were you after? there may be a way of modifying a build that is currently available to what you want it to be

also, did you say how much you would offer them, or did you not mention money, because they may have refused because of the amount of oney you offered (the cost of getting someone else to build your computer is rediculously high

Ohh I should mention that I was feeling the same before my first build but was surprised at how simple it really is. Gives you a good feeling having built your own comp from scratch

I think that maybe I should try myself, it's just that I did attempt to do one some years ago and ended up frying the mobo. Very nervous now but you right I should try it. Will check out youtube vids, thanks. Still can't understand why overclockers don't provide the service though.

You will be fine. Just make sure you double check everything and go through anti static procedure. I think if you are really worried you can buy some anti static bracelets or even suits (I may well be making that up:confused:)

If you no where the hard drive, optical drive, graphics card and sound card goes, then you can pretty much build a computer. Did my first build recently and its really easy mate, just go for it. The biggest faff is installing software/drivers!

+1 for having a go at it yourself, loads of info on the net, google, youtube etc, any problems and people here will be more than willing to help. I suspect that ocuk wont do it due to shipping a case with an assembled system in it, theres a possibility that components may get damaged during transit. Much safer to ship all the parts in their own individual packaging.

didn't think of that explanation, sorry to overclockers, I have bought all my equipment from them including my current rig. Now if only they would have explained that in the first place lol. Loyal costumer and will be purchasing my upgrade from them, even if I do have to do it for myself for the second time, hopfully not blowing it up this time lol.

Antistatic braclets are always worn now. Thanks guys.

Correct. :)

We do this to ensure the parts get to you in one piece with no damage in transit.

Just to be clear, does this apply to the pre-built systems too now?

I only ask as thinking of buying one myself but a family member bought one not long ago, as did I a few years back and both came with the CPU coolers and fans attached.

In the case of my family member, the cooler/fan was fubar on arrival and had to be returned.

well, this is the closest i can get you to what you need with a prebuilt computer:
(personally i think it would be better to buy each component seperatly and overclock it yourself as you will save yourself a massive amount)

Ultima mosasaur

you would need to select these options:
- No SSD
- No crossfire
- No Operating system
- Overclocked
- 16GB memory upgrade

you would need to ask customer services if they could perform the following changes:
- change the case to the one you want (+£23)
- remove power supply (i assume you have a good one already)(-£73)
- remove hard drive (-£44)
- remove graphics card (-£200)
- remove DVD drive (-£17)

i make that £769, but they may charge extra for the labour of doing this extra work. buying what you want seperatly costs £682 + £53 to account for the difference in coolers, which makes it £735 to buy seperatly.

you would also have to ask what motherboard the mosasaur comes with, because it doesnt say.

the motherboard of the bundle you have chosen does not do crossfire properly, it only does it at x4/x4 speed. i suspect the mosasaur will do it at x8/x8
