Overclocking 2500K issue

Hi

I've just been overclocking my cpu (to procrastinate from revision) using the guide here. The problem is I'm at 1.35V for the CPU voltage and if I move the multiplier from 45 to 46 the system becomes unstable running prime95 and I get a BSOD in the first 5 minutes or so. My temps remain around 60 degrees which sounds okay to me. Is this just the fundemental limit of my cpu?

I've backed mine down to 4.5 too. 4.6ghz was working in games and everything else but when I ran prime it would BSOD within first few minutes. Knock it down to 4.5 and it will run prime for hours. All I have done to get to 4.5 was change the multiplier though. I cba to change all the voltage settings and what not to get prime stable at 4.6ghz and above.
 
Seems to be as you said, a vcore issue. I just incremented it up to 1.355V and it seems to be stable now. On another note, will there be much performance difference if I bump up the vcore a bit more to 4.8GHz? And what sort of effect will it have on the longevity of the cpu?
 
Try to keep it under 1.4V as a general rule of thumb. If you want to go further than 1.4V then that's fine. Plenty people have stable 24/7 overclocks above 1.4V. Personally, I would be happy all the way to around 1.45V

Reduction in longevity is widely considered to be so minimal that by the time it dies you would have long upgraded anyway.
 
More than likely need a bump in vcore.

0x124 = add/remove Vcore or QPI/VTT voltage (usually Vcore, once it was QPI/VTT)
0x101 = add more Vcore.

VTT is often written as VCCIO on sandybridge. :/ Makes a return as VTT in Ivybridge though!

Depends on who the Motherboard is Manufactured by. On my Gigabyte P67A-UD7-B3 it's shown as QPI/VTT Voltage, allthough it's VTT and VCCSA on my Asrock Z68 Extream 4 Gen 3 Motherboard.
