Hiya all Finally upgraded to 64 bit just wondering how the hell to overclock this looks like things have moved on a bit since my XP2500 only bit i am understanding at the minute is the FSB!.

My specs are AMD Athlon 64 3700 Radeon X1800GTO Epox 9NPA+ Geil Value 1GB PC3200 Oh and AMD OEM heatsink ..ordering something better soon.

Any idea where to start so far pushed the FSB to an amazing 205fsb..lol

Thanks

- Run RAM on a divider by setting it to 166Mhz (or 180Mhz) in the BIOS
- Set LDT multiplier to 3x instead of 5x
- Increase HTT (FSB) speed in steps of 5Mhz
- Test with Prime95's small FFT torture test
- When unstable increase VCore slightly and try again

Good advice :) dropped the divider down to 180Mhz first but ended up clocking further dropped it down to 166 and now running at 2.585Ghz! still on stock voltage and still on stock HSF! how much is reasonable to expect out of one of these things so far its been a no hastle overclock.

prime 95`ed it for 8 hours and all stable too :D

Just noticed the voltage when i overclocked to 2750 it keeps changing from 1.564v to 1.568v just been into the bios and i forgot to take the voltage off auto think it would be ok to leave it?

Ah thats cool ill wait until i finish seeing what i can get out of it then set it manually ..or OFF as Epox bios puts it lol.

Currently at 2750Ghz and the memory is running at 196Mhz still with default cooler (temps staying under 50c!) cant see me getting much more out of it really dont think my ram overclocks well.

Also cool and quiet was disabled the second after installation ..same with the nforce4 firewall :)

Mike :D

I quite like it too :D its like getting a 2005/06 version of my XP2500 :D

just looking at heatsinks but amazed by the lack of heat it seems to be generating although for some reason really not trusting the temp readings on the board EP 9NPA+ think ill get one of those AC freezer 64 pro things ..especially considering they gone down to £10 !

Bet i can beat 2.8Ghz! :) just wondering how much id have to do to get to 3Ghz ..ram and a better cooler probs :)

Just was going to order a an ac freezer 64 and the total with postage is £21.10 £8 postage for a single heatsink must weigh a ton.

Argh tried priming at 2.9Ghz all seemed stable but it failed prime been dropping it down until it passes prime now i am back at 2.5Ghz as per screen shot ah well ill leave it for now until new cooler arrives wonder why i cant get higher than 2.5Ghz memory still has a fair way to go.

Hiya the motherboard is a Epox 9NPA+ nForce4 ultra and havent changed the memory settings looking at the settings in bios they are at stock (memory is PC3200 geil value stuff)

Currently clocked at 2.640Ghz with an 11x multiplyer and HTT at 240 before this failed prime in the first hour so i increased vcore to 1.5v and now its just completed 13 hours of prime 95 so I would say its stable enough.

Got a AC freezer coming in the post ill whack that on and while i am there remove the chipset cooler clean it up and put some artic silver on it :)

Best I have managed so far is 2.6Ghz 11x multi and a 166 memory divider using 1.5v.

If i add another 5fsb it fails prime tried dropping the divider right down so there wasnt any stress on the memory and still failed picking up the 64 freezer tomorow so it looks like its going to be more volts temps were around 55c full load at the minute.

Any ideas what could be holding me back apart from voltage? I want 3Ghz! lol :D

Finally got around to installing my artic cooler 64 the other day what a mess on! when i changed the direction of the heatsink the socket mount fell out and i put the hold clip together completley the wrong way around took me a couple of hours to figure that out ended up having to apply cermaneque in the end think somethings not right though getting temps higher than my stock heatsink currently around 40c checked the stepping it is a KAB2E :)

I havent given up yet :D
