Hi, I've had my PC running a little over a year now and I'm happy with it. When I first put it together I remember overclocking upto 4.0ghz just because I wasn't really fussed about it and didn't see the need to overclock.

After a year everything is working fine, still as fast as when I first put it together. But out of interest and getting bored I decided let's squeeze a bit more out of it. So I went into the BIOS and changed the clock speed and realised that I only set it to 3.9ghz before because I can't set the multiplier any higher than 39!

So how do you guys get 4.4ghz out of yours??

BTW, I am very much a novice when it comes to overclocking!!!

I know that I need to set the multiplier to x44 but it won't let me go any higher than x39!

If I set the turbo ratio to x44 doesn't that mean it will only be running at 4.4ghz when turbo is on??

When I got the board I had to update the BIOS to F7 just to get the i7 working.

So do you think it can't be done on this board?

Just had a quick look at Gigabyte's website. Should I just stick the newest BIOS on and see what happens?

It's been a while since I last flashed the BIOS. I know I used Qflash but can someone remind me of the steps just to make sure I get it right.

Just had a look and I was looking at the wrong board earlier!! The only BIOS available is F8 which only adds USB 3.0 compatibility. Does this mean I'm stuck with x39?

Another thing, I just went into the BIOS and checked the system. Now I've set the multiplier to x39, then I tried changing the turbo multiplier but I can't so that's also stuck on x39! Then when I went into the system it showed that the CPU is running at 3.5ghz and turbo at 3.7ghz!! That's just the stock speeds!! Why hasn't it changed it? It still says x39 in the settings!!

Just flashed the BIOS. Exactly the same! Max x39 but system shows stock clock frequency. And I also disabled the windows logo on start up (I'm guessing that's the logo that shows up before the password screen) but even that still showed up! Makes me think the BIOS isn't doing anything I'm asking it too!!!!

Waw, thanks guys but this sounds very complicated for me!!! I don't know how to flash the BIOS without qflash!!! I don't want to risk screwing up my system.

I think this a little out of my comfort zone. I would hate for something to go wrong. Thanks for all your help though but I think I'll just leave it as it is.
