hi there, i recently bought a intel 4300 along with a asus p5n-e sli with crosair 2gb 6400 4-4-4-12 ram.
I am new to overclocking and managed no bother to overclock it to 2.4ghz but i can not get it to go above that at all. i have tryed adding more volts to the northbridge, cpu but wont even boot at anything over 2.4ghz. i have a artic cooling freezer pro so cooling isint the issue.
Any help anyone can give me would be much appreciated, cheers Mark

noob question

This maybe a noob question but i think i have tryed everything else, could it be that my old 160gb maxtor hard drive is holding anything back. its crammed full of stuff but cant really see how it could affect the overclock.
cheers.

Your hard drive shouldn't make any difference on your overclock, at least not anymore since you don't change the PCI frequency when you increase your front side bus.

So if you are stuck at 2.4 there must be something else holding you back.
