my card seems to overclock quite nicely but does anyone know what the safe temps are for it? or is it just wat you feel safe with?

With regards to gaming:
what would increasing the core clock help with?
what would increasing the memory clock help with?

voltage increases in msi only affect the core overclocking right?

card will throttle at approx 95c and shut down at approx 120c

I gamed all day long at 85c in my old case i would never let it hit 90c

New case had at 71c after 6 hours of bf so would go with 80-85 as a safe limit IMO

well.. that scared the **** out of me, overclocked with 1.25v 960/1360 and it crashed o nfurmark and screens no longer worked but it would switch on, motherboard battery out seemed to fix it. but wow.. no more overclocking for me.. well for now at least!

You know I'd try to keep it under 80C

Also the cooler these cards run the more stable them become.

On 30% fan my 5850 can do 1ghz at 1.312v

at 100% fan my 5850 can do 1ghz at 1.25v (might be lower I just can't run crysis for 30 loops with fan at 100% again way too noisy and long)

You crashed your PC as it looks like you went straight in with a high overclock. Not many 5870's can reach 1360 on the memory. Work your way up in 10mhz increments then when its unstable, knock the voltage up a little bit.

ive been working my way up, it was fully stable at 960/1350 at 1.25v on furmark X-burn and post fx, max temp was 82 after about 10 mins.

can someone comfirm that voltage change in msi doesnt effect the memory clock you can get? just something i heard.

what do you guys think of the thermalright spitfire and VRM-R5 combo? seems pretty gd to me except there are only small passive heatsinks for ram
