Overclocking 7900GS experiences?

The recent Inq article showed them hitting some insane clocks on a 7900GS (512MB version?) that enabled it to outperform a 7900GT.

Basically, has anyone that's got a GS tried this out and had similar experiences? I have a friend who's about to build a new system and I'm tempted to recommend him this card if it really can hit those sort of clocks...
 
I have just bought the 7900GS on this weeks special. Should have 4 tomorrow and will post results as soon as I get them.

This is a cracking card as with all the reading I have done on it.

If people can reliable hit those kind of speeds...well, I'm tempted to sell my 7800GTX and buy a 7900GS ;p
 
Ive managed to clock mine up to whats in my sig. Pretty decent card. Apparantly the Ocuk one clocks even better than mine ( leadtek ).

Deffo quicker than the 7900GT i used to have when the 7900GT is run at stock.

Well... its hard to tell. Ive only installed it in my PC this evening and I would say that its a tiny bit noisier than my last card, an X800. Its got a little bit of a high pitched whine - only audible because of the ventholes on the backplate. With those sealed off I dont think I could hear it, especially in my excellent (well ventilated) silent Antec P150 case.

I was surprised that it came in a sealed Palit retail box with disks, game, and leads - was expecting a plain box! That heatsink is one big mutha - chunky enough to grace a CPU. So far so good - no overclocking for now, just making sure all is well.
 
ehh, what happened to the thread about the ocuk 7900gs special offer? i just come back from work and can;t seem to find it anywhere? :confused:
