Overclocking 8800gts 320mb

I have a POV 8800gts 320mb graphics card.

I have tried overclocking it briefly before, and i ran 3dmark 06 and got 9925. This was at settings of 650/1800mhz.

I noticed no artifacts or anything, it ran fine. I didnt really punish it so temps were ok too.

Is it safe overclocking cards as long as temps are ok. Or is the risk of damage significant.

I have the urge to overclock, even though games are running ok as it is lol

If temps are fine and your not getting any artifacts then I'd think its safe to keep pushing it. Think we all like to push our gear even tho its not really needed!
