Hi guys,

I have bought my GT72 2QD from Overclockers like 1 year ago or a bit more.

I would like to push my 970m a little bit to be VR ready.

I have read and saw some screenshot that makes me think that it is possible.

The issue is that it does not look that a lot of people want to share the knowledge.

I have installed Nvidia inspector and I can do a base overclocking of +135MHz on the core. But I have seen around that it should be possible to push the core to + 500MHZ.

I'm not too sure if the issue is coming from the Drivers (I guess there are some limitations there) or the Bios of the GC. (or me not knowing how to use nvidia inspector for overclokcing purpose)

I have read 1 or 2 forums that said that there is a solution (they seem to talk about vbios modded) but all of them are asking for money or to be an active memeber of their forum.

To summarize, is ti really possible to push the 970m at the level of a 980m ? if yes How ? Can somebody explain the details please ?

Please I'm perfectly aware of the risk I'm taking with overclocking, I have done it quite a lot on desktop, I just want to understand the reality of the overclocking on my MSI laptop, is it a big scam this so called overclocking or is it possible ?

Thank you very much !

You need custom vbios to overclock a laptop graphics card beyond the standard limits. Prema Mod bios are one such option. Read up on notebook review forum for user reviews and experience.
