Ok, I seem to be having a little trouble overclocking my card. I have installed the 96.98 drivers which support my card and all is working fine except for when I try to overclock the card. I have the lastest version of Ntune installed too 5.05, but when I press 'find optimal' it locks up my pc. Im sure you could just manually adjust the slider bars before and then after testing accept the overclock, but it does not let me select 'custom clock frequencies'
Strange thing is I was having a similar trouble with my GX2 so I used the latest RivaTuner and that worked ok, but I dont think the current version supports the 8800GTX.

Any ideas anyone?

Use Coolbits, that is afterall whay rivatuner used!! ;) it should work fine with that driver.. You can download from the link below or you can probably just get it from your driver CD that came with your card.. Much better then crappytool..

If for whatever reason it doesnt work and they replaced it with the ntunes crap in the new control panel do this..

copy the below text into a text file then rename the file to "sedona.reg" and click it .. This will re-enable the switch back to the old control panel where coolbits still works perfectly.. So overclock using the old control panel and when your done click "apply on startup" then switch back to the new one and your done..

Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

; NVIDIA Windows 2000/XP Display Coolbits file
; Copyright (c) NVIDIA Corporation. All rights reserved.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NvCplApi\Policies]
"SedonaDisable"=dword:00000002

You will need to role back to 96.89, no ntunes crap with those and coolbits works with the new control panel unlike the newer drivers.

Another question, when your using a 8800GTX do you not get as many game profiles as its a single gpu? When I had my GX2 I had a lot more game profiles?

Allot of the profiles are SLI profiles and theres no real need for them without SLI but there still there, you just can't see them.. ;)

Install 97.02 drivers....

change these reg values...

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NVTweak]
"Coolbits"=dword:00000003
"NvCplDisableRefreshRatePage"=dword:00000000

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NvCplApi\Policies]
"ContextUIPolicy"=dword:00000001
"TaskbarUIPolicy"=dword:00000003

Could you tell us what that does? :)
