Overclocking a 955.... is it really worth it..

I have a AMD 955 which runs at 3.2. I had it running at 3.8 for over 3 months. just lately my pc has been crashing and decided to reset the cpu clock speeds just to make sure it wasnt the o'c. Anyway i went on a game and forgot to reset the OC.. i didnt notice any diffrence. I havnt noticed one diff while on ANY game. The gamed i tested were Age of conan, dragon age origins & champions online. I normally game with High settings + 1920x1200. My cpu never climbs above 50% while gaming either.. so is it really worth it when it comes to gaming?

Side note: lmao just searched on google "Worth overclocking a 955?" Found some guy who asked the same question on another forum. While reading down the thread i found my self SO lucky that he had the exact same setup as me. After a while.. i noticed his name... chubbylilloser .. >< lol Thats my alt name on fourms.. i asked it around a year ago.. Fail lol So i was asking it then im asking it now..is it worth overclocking for gaming?

But on another note, yes and no. Some games will see improvements and some won't but like you said if you cpu never climbs above 50% then an overclock isn't really neccesary.

I see speed improvements when i overclocked my 3.2 to 3.8 when loading up windows. Everything seems faster i.e. icons loading up and passive programs etc.

3.2 -> 3.6 gig you may see 10 fps faster, its worth it if you are only hitting 30fps on lowest fps but if (like in MW") you are constant 100fps ...why bother

my 940BE is running at 3.4, tbh that kicks ass as is. my 4850 ati is most likely current bottle neck.

Yeah true! It has made me rearlise however that my 5870 is somewhat the bottleneck (if you can call it that) where i had allways thought it was my cpu!Had even conciderd an upgrade to an i7! I think ill deff be getting a 2nd 5870 if i do upgrade!

I think ill take it upto 3.6 again (just as well as i have a h50 cpu cooler) just incase! ty for the help guys!
