Hi

A week or so ago i decided to overclock my 9800gt it has a stock fan on it and the clock speeds are :

GPU Clock was 600 now 632 MHz
Memory was 900 now 951MHz
Shader was 1500 now 1580 MHz

now at the moment my temps are 51-53 while idle and between 70-80 at full load , can anybody tell me if these temps are ok with this card and would u be able to squeeze more out of it ?

cheers

;)

Yes, they're okay. GPUs have very high temperature limits compared to CPUs, they're designed in general to function at 100c+ (although I'd rather not have anything that hot in my case)

Just for your information though, that sort of overclock will likely be getting you 3 or 4 more fps in games on average, probably less actually.

So if at default the temperatures are much better than there is no point to that overclock really. But if they are round about the same then I guess the extra 1-2 fps wont hurt :)

It also depends what sort of framerates you're getting anyway... if you're getting <25fps, it's probably worth it to make it more playable - if you're already getting 30fps+, it's probably a waste of time.
