Hey guys, decided to get a fx6300, just waiting for it to arrive.

Are they easy to clock? Or can they be fussy like phenoms ?, also, what sort of temps are safe for fx chips ?

Thanks

You'll get very similar results between base + multi overclocking, so you might as well just stick to multi.

Temps.. 61'c on the cores ('Package' on HWMonitor) and then around 71'c for CPUTIN (Socket)

1.52v Max for Vcore, try to go lower than this though.

With adequate cooling these chips will clock to the sky! If you hit a max temp of whats stated above and its stable then you are safe as no application will actually put the chip under this much stress for long.

N1, iv only got the stick cooler at the moment, but planning on getting a good air cooler, still yet to decide.

What sort of clock you think it will go with a good air cooler ?

Well, with my H80 (Closed loop watercooler) I can get 4.8Ghz on my 8350. I dont need it that high so 4.4Ghz will do, though my room is normally rather cool. I would expect you should get between 4.6Ghz and 4.8Ghz. Depending how much you spend on a cooler and the ambient temp of your room, you could get 5Ghz. Its not uncommon, just people do not have a need, so they drop their clocks to cause less wear on the chips.

I would recommend my setup for cooling. A H80/i with 2 high RPM Scythe Gentle Typhoons. My CPU cooling is dead silent. I can hear my HDD's/GPUS over it even when they are on idle.

that sounds good to me, I don't think id need more than 4.4 to be honest, but would like to see if its a golden chip and reach 5ghz stable, its probley going to be a couple of weeks or so when I can afford a decent cooler, so stock cooler for now it is!

Your motherboard chipset may be a limiter 780. However if you have space, I recommend a Phanteks with two 140's. Primes my 8350 at 4.7Ghz and will run benches at 5GHz.

Iv got plenty of spacr in my case. I just want to make sureni choosr thr right one as i cant afford to be choosig wrong.

I just noticed. On the site on coolers. None of hem say am3+...or is am3 and am3+ the same ?

Yes, AMD have not changed the heatsink mounting points since socket 939/754 or before therefore any AM2/AM3 cooler will fit.
