Hi all

A mate of mine is having real problems getting his Go stepped Q6600 above 2.7Ghz. He previously has a C2D e6600 installed and clocked that chip all the way up to 3.2Ghz (FSB 400 X 8) without having to touch voltages.

Was wondering whether someone could give me some reference settings (or refer me to a previous link maybe) to pass on to him to enable him to push this chip up to a 'mere' 3 gig.

I read in an ANANDTECH report that this mobo isn't that great at clocking quads. Is this a wider held opinion and is 3 gig really that challenging for this board / cpu combo? (BTW, I don't know what bios revision he is using)

Unfortuntaly the nVidia 650 and 680 chipsets in general are terrible for clocking quads, and hitting a wall at 2.7 is fairly common. :(

Unfortunately, as above, a lot of these boards won't get a quad above 2.7Ghz. My own experience of a 650 and a G0 quad is a maximum of 2.7Ghz, and no amount of tweaking or voltage changes made any difference.

Not saying all of them are bad, and there may be many happy users out there with a quad at 3Ghz+ on one of these boards, but a quick google shows lots of people are limited to a 300FSB with a quad.

I've gone back to a dual core now, for that very reason. I'll upgrade my board when the next generation of quads show up I think.
