Hi,
Ive got an P4 @3.2ghz (Socket 478 :( ) on a Asus P4C 800-E Deluxe with a oversized Zalman cooler of some form (will check if need be)
Tried to overclock it using the inbuilt Asus settings, but the "overclocking failed" constantly.
Just wondering how I would go about overclocking it manually (never done anything to do with oc before) and if the "overclocking failed" message has anything to do with BIOS xD
Thanks in advance

First of all read the guide to overclocking and secondly use the BIOS to overclock but make sure you know what you are doing otherwise you can end up cooking your processor.

EDIT: I take it you have a Asus Overclock profile in the BIOS and not via a Windows application?

its not a windows app, so I would have to say its a profile

You will need to adjust it via the CPU multiplyer in the BIOS.

Firstly, before doing anything I would advise you to find out its current idle temp and load temp on your machine, and get the maximum temp and max voltage the CPU can take. Intel's site may have the later information.

Secondly, if you have not already done so read the guide to overclocking amd make sure you understand it.
