Overclocking a Phenom x4 9650

So I have a pretty average Phenom 9650 at stock (2.3) with a stock cooler. Basically I want to overclock a bit, preferably without using the BIOS or over-volting (cant really afford a mistake!). So which cooler should I be looking at, how much should I overclock and how?

I have some overclocking software that came with the mobo T-series oc utility, with allows you to test, so if it is unstable, it will restart at stock settings.

You probably won't squeeze much out of it, but somewhere around 2.8-2.9 clocks should be reachable with a decent cooler.

Anything that's 20quid+ AM2 compatible will do like fenrir, tuniq tower or xigmateks.
